Tuesday 26 May 2020
With a production of around 150,000 tonnes, the chestnut sector has tens of thousands of producers in Europe.
Given the exceptional circumstances caused by the pandemic, EUROCASTANEA, the European chestnut network, postpones European Meetings to 2021.
EUROCASTANEA, and the Interprofessional Union of Chestnuts of Southwest (France), have decided to postpone to September 2021 the European Meetings initially planned for September 2020.
However, to maintain the link between the players in the sector, EUROCASTANEA has decided:
- to organize a webinar with commercial operators and producer representatives on October 8, 2020 to discuss harvest and market prospects for the 2020/21 season
- if conditions permit, organize a seminar in Bordeaux (France) on December 2 and 3 during the Vinitech / Sifel trade fair.
The organization by France of the European Chestnut Meetings is maintained in 2021, Italy will host them in 2022 then they will be organized for the first time in Austria in 2023.
