The maximum residue limits tolerated by the EU involve European approval for possible use on crops.
At least 56 substances banned in the EU can be used by Morocco.
COAG (Coordinadora de Organizaciones of Agricultores there Ganaderos) said that Morocco can use at least 56 substances banned in the EU for the treatment of tomatoes. The list of substances can be found on the COAG website.
Using data from official European rules, COAG
is against tolerance for imports from third countries in this regard, in particular the maximum residue limits.
For COAG, this shows the hypocrisy of the EU authorities and unfair competition for Moroccan tomatoes. All European producers have reduced the use of chemicals for their crops to comply with EU regulations.
