Vegetable prices increased on average by 30% - the most spectacular rise was potatoes at 53.44%.
India has been hit bu high food inflation, particularly for vegetables.
In India, inflation was 10.49% for the month of April, after reaching 10.66% in March. Prices of some products jumped (potatoes, vegetables, meat, milk, pulses) while others show a downward trend (onions, fruit).
Vegetable prices have
increased on average by 30% with the record held by potatoes, which rose 53.44%. On the other hand, prices of onions dropped -12.11% in April after falling -24.23% in March.
Some experts attribute inflation to problems in supply chains causing bottlenecks in supply and artificial shortages.
