The season (June-August) is not completed, but the total production is estimated to have declined sharply compared to last year.
Cons-performance this season for sector tomatoes in Tunisia.
The Agency TAP (Tunis Afrique Presse) reveals that tomato production will be between 900 and 950 000 tons for the 2013-14 campaign. The average of Tunisian production is based on the GIL (Groupement Interprofessionnel Vegetables) around 1.2 million tons.
Professionals explain this decline by the decrease in areas, in fact the country had 26,200 acres of tomatoes in 2010 and only 18,390 hectares this season.
