Exponential growth expected to continue for Peruvian exports to Asia

Exports to Asian markets will increase further thanks to new access to these markets for Peruvian products.
Asia currently accounts for 9% of Peruvian exports of food products with mainly grapes, mangoes, mandarins and avocados. In the fruit and vegetable sector, these exports have experienced exponential growth which should continue.
Peruvian exports have as main markets North America and the European Union. In recent years, trade with Asia in the fruit and vegetable sector has grown rapidly, with the result that Peruvian food exports are expected to increase exponentially in the near future.
“Asian markets have become a very high priority for us. Since 2005, our exports to Asia have grown exponentially, and this trend is expected to continue in 2020. That is why we have negotiated access to these markets. for the following fresh products for the period 2020-2021: cranberries (India and Malaysia), citrus fruits (India and Vietnam), pomegranates (China, Malaysia, South Korea and Taiwan), Hass avocados (Philippines and Malaysia) and grapes ( Japan)," said Erick Aponte, PROMPERÚ Trade Commissioner for Hong Kong and South East Asia.
Asia currently accounts for 9% of Peruvian food exports to the world. China is the largest Asian market accounting for 30% of all Peruvian exports to this continent, followed by Hong Kong (20%), South Korea (14%), Japan (12%) and Indonesia (8%). To a lesser extent, but also growing strongly, exports to the markets of Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, the Arab Emirates, Vietnam, etc.
The main foods exported to Asia in 2019 are table grapes (20%), cranberries (11%), mangoes (8%), mandarins (8%) and avocados (5%). The foods that showed the highest growth rates in 2019 compared to the previous year in this Cranberries (+ 93.6%), mangoes (+ 64.8%) and mandarins (+48%) market , 2%) is the most important.
Today, Peru is ranked among the world's top 10 exporters of fruits and vegetables.
