With over a billion euros in sales and a 10% growth, Huelva solidifies its dominance in berry exports, driving Andalusia’s success in global markets.
Huelva reached a record high in berry exports in the first seven months of 2024, with sales totalling 1.101 billion euros, a 10.1% increase from the previous year. This achievement solidifies Huelva as Spain's top berry exporter, commanding 77% of national exports — far ahead of Valencia, which has a 10.3% share. Huelva alone contributed 7.8% to Spain’s overall 11.6% export growth.
This strong export performance also reinforces Andalusia’s market dominance, with the region making up 80% of Spain's red fruit exports. Huelva’s berry exports generated a trade surplus of 1.029 billion euros, with imports at just 72 million euros.
Strawberries led sales, bringing in 598 million euros (54% of the total) with a 14.3% increase, followed by raspberries and blueberries, generating 265 million and 164 million euros, respectively. Huelva's red fruits reached 43 countries, led by Germany, the UK, and France, with sales growth in 16 of the top 20 markets.
Outside of berries, Huelva also ranks as Spain's second-largest fruit exporter, following Valencia.
