Avocado second world champion of growth
World avocado demand and imports have been growing 7% average for over the last 10 years. Avocados rank 7 among the major imported fruit in the world with 3,3 million tons, but are in second position behind the blueberries by market growth. Import value reached €7,6 billion this 2025/2026 season, a decrease from €9,3 billion during the previous season 2024/2025, due to higher pressure on prices. North America makes 46% of the volumes, followed by the EU and UK 35%, rest of the world 19%. Mexico and Peru lead by far the international supply with an export value of 1,463 and 770 thousand tons respectively.
