The renewed alliance is expected to broaden Sunkist’s market access, enhance citrus supply management, and better address shifting demands across the citrus sector.

Sunkist Growers, Inc. announced a significant development: Limoneira Company, one of the cooperative’s original founding members, is set to rejoin the organization on November 1, 2025. This decision reunites two historic players in the citrus industry and reflects a strategic shift designed to benefit growers, customers, and the broader citrus supply chain.

The partnership will see Limoneira, a global producer of lemons and avocados, transfer all sales and marketing operations for its fresh citrus — particularly lemons — to Sunkist. Limoneira will remain an independent business, continuing to manage its farming and agribusiness operations separately.

Jim Phillips, Sunkist’s President and CEO, described the move as a unification of “shared history, values, and vision,” and emphasized the benefits this collaboration brings to growers, packers, and customers alike.

Limoneira CEO Harold Edwards echoed the sentiment, saying that the timing is right for both companies to reunite after years of independent growth and change. “We’ve both evolved,” Edwards said. “Coming together now positions us to deliver greater value to our partners.”

The renewed alliance is expected to broaden Sunkist’s market access, enhance citrus supply management, and better address shifting demands across the citrus sector. Both companies also confirmed they are working on a smooth operational transition ahead of the new season.
