The Strawberry Research Group of the Andalusian Institute of Agricultural, Fishing, Food and Ecological Production Research and Training (Ifapa) has published the analysis of the distribution of varieties in the strawberry crop in Huelva for the 2023/2024 campaign.
According to the report, the most predominant varieties this season are Marisma, Fortuna and Rociera, representing 31.3% of the total number of plants in production. However, the last two, which used to lead, have been gradually losing ground in recent years, dropping from the 75.4% they occupied in the 2018/19 campaign.
Marisma stands out as the most cultivated variety this season, with 10.7% of plants under cultivation, confirming an upward trend evident in recent seasons. Last year, its commercial presence was 4.5%, while in the previous season (2021/2022) it was 1.7%.
