According to the 1st estimate for the 2021-22 campaign, India will produce 102.92 million tons of fruits and 199.88 million tons of vegetables.
The Indian government, according to the 1st estimate, forecasts a total horticultural production (fruits, vegetables, spices, floriculture) of 333.33 million tons, or -0.4% compared to 2020-21. The expected volume is higher than that of food grains estimated at 316.06 million tonnes.
Regarding fruit, 2021-22 production is expected to be around 102.92 million tonnes, or +0.43% compared to 102.48 million tonnes in 2020-21.
As for vegetables, 2021-22 production is expected to be around 199.88 million tonnes, or -0.28% compared to 200.44 million tonnes in 2020-21.
Onion production is estimated at 31.12 million tons, or +16.82% compared to 26.64 million tons in 2020-21. Potato production is estimated at 53.6 million tonnes, or -4.58% compared to 53.6 million tonnes in 2020-21. Tomato production is estimated at 20.3 million tonnes, or -4.15% compared to 21.18 million tonnes in 2020-21.
