In Italy, the Emilia Romagna region has just suffered severe flooding. The damage is currently being calculated. According to the Coldiretti organization, 80% of the farms and businesses affected in the Ravenna region had already suffered damage in the 2023 flood.
According to Coldiretti, the flooding is affecting vegetable, apple, pear, kiwi and plum crops in the Faentino area, in Bagnacavallese and in Cotignola. Stagnant water and mud could lead to total crop failure.
According to Confagricoltura, in the Bologna region, tomatoes, chard, beet and soya crops are likely to be the hardest hit. As far as fruit is concerned, plums and late peaches seem to be the most affected. On the other hand, there has been little or no damage to Abate pears, most of which have already been harvested, or to kiwifruit.
In addition to the Emilia Romagna region, the bad weather also affected the Marche and Apulia regions.
