Citrus fruit season in Italy is in full blast
VU | F.lli Vinaccia Srl
La Costiera is the Italian producer and distributor of citrus fruits. The company was founded in the 60’s in Sorrento by the Vinaccia family.
It all began as a small family business with the aim of promoting and selling a product of Italian excellence, the Lemon of Sorrento, which is now an IGP product.
In 2007, the company moved to its current location in the industrial area of Fondi, in a larger structure that is capable of containing modern equipment and cold storage cells.
Over time, La Costiera has become one of the leading producers and sellers of citrus fruits in the country. In addition to Sorrento lemons, they produce citrons, bergamot, Messina IGP, among other lemon varieties.
Such a wide range of fruits allows the company to offer its customers high-quality citrus fruit all year round.
According to Valentina Sanna, Public Relations & Export Manager of La Costiera, even during difficult times of pandemic, they never stopped the production process, in order to respond to the demand of their customers.
Today, Sorrento lemons are in the middle part of their season, which will last until the middle of October. The crop stands out with the best quality and medium size (size 3) of the variety, which brings positive projections for this campaign. The prices at the moment are according to the period of season.
“We want to share the idea that imperfection is beauty and natural food. This concept is very important to sustain”, stressed Sanna.
La Costiera exports all over Europe, Dubai, and the USA. Sorrento lemons are especially appreciated in the UK, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany. Their citrus fruits are distributed to the supermarkets, retails, wholesalers, HoReCa - all customers that need Premium and Extra Special quality Sorrento Lemons varieties.
