Sharp increase in Peruvian blueberry exports
VU
From May 1 to November 14, Peru exported 166.000 tons of blueberries, which shows a 33% increase compared to the 125.000 tons shipped in the same period of 2020, according to the consulting firm Inform@cción.
These 166.000 tons exported from May to November already exceeded the entire volume exported in the previous season (2020/21) when 160.000 tons were shipped. Worth to mention that the campaign is expected to run until March.
Peruvian blueberry shipments are projected to reach a record by the end of the 2021/22 season, exceeding 200.000 tons, according to the president of Inform@cción, Fernando Cillóniz Benavides.
In the current campaign, the peak time of exports was registered in September (which was slightly higher than that exported in October), when previously it was observed in October and with much difference compared to September.
