To strengthen its positions on the European market, Senegal gets better to answer the criteria of the fair trade and the environmental protection.
Senegal exports in fruits and vegetables have made a spectacular jump for the last five years.
" 15.000 tons was exported in 2004, and 32.000 tons in 2009. What means that effectively, we are on an ascending slope ", indicated Mr Abdoulaye Ndiaye, head of division in the direction of the protection of vegetables.
To increase its exports, Senegal set up management systems of the traceability and the hygiene, to answer the requirements of the European market.
Phase 2 for technical support for the sector of export of fruits and vegetables is going to begin from now.
For the next four years, the program of cooperation is going to help the Senegalese producers to face the criteria of the fair trade and the environmental protection, to be in sync with the new demands of the consumer.
