Tesco wants to increase its sales in China and Eastern Europe

Like its rivals, Wal-Mart and Carrefour, the British group Tesco, No. 3 worldwide distribution, looks to emerging markets with strong growth.
In China, Tesco has made during its 2009/2010 financial year, a turnover of nearly 1 billion euros. Tesco wants to raise 4 billion pounds or 4.7 billion euros by the end of 2015. To quadruple its sales, Tesco will double its number of hypermarkets and bring to over 200.
In Central and Eastern Europe, Tesco plans to increase its selling space to 4.1 million m2 by the year 2014-15 against 2.2 million m2 now.
Tesco has 850 stores in Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Turkey, which generated 7.6 billion pounds (8.9 billion), nearly 12% of total turnover.
