Peru has over 10 agricultural export products that have a potential for growth, with some products experiencing a growth rate of over 100% between 2007 and 2022, according to the Update Report on Macroeconomic Projections 2023-2026 (IAPM).
One such product is onion, with Peru ranking 11th in the world for its shipments in 2021, thanks to increased demand from the United States and Europe. The other products are ginger, pomegranates, pineapples, limes, tangerines, and garlic.
The growth of exports is related to the opening of new markets. In this line, golden gooseberry and turmeric supplies would also rise due to the opening of the U.S. market that is projected for 2023, according to the table published in the IAPM. Peru's exports of golden gooseberry between January and November 2022 totaled 46 tons.
Peruvian turmeric is expected to have good demand since local producers differentiate themselves by offering an organic product.
