Ukraine
Tuesday 26 June 2007

The farmers of the southern regions of Ukraine say about good harvest perspectives this year in the area, where tomato production is concentrated. Drought failed to make much loss in most tomato producing farms, because the overwhelming majority of them use irrigation. Some farmers are even happy with this weather, because the frequency of the plant diseases has abruptly declined.
Around 1.3 mln. tons of tomatoes will be produced this year in Ukraine; this volume is 15-20% less than in the previous year. The main reason for the production decrease is the reduction of tomato cultivation areas in Ukraine.
