Good start to exports of grapes
FJ
The season started well for Indian exports of grapes.
To date, exports to the EU have almost doubled, to over 3,755 tons compared to 1,906 tons last year. APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Foods Exports Development Authority) considers that the request is supported by the establishment of a traceability system which has restored the confidence of buyers. In Europe so far, Holland has imported 1,764 tons of Indian grapes, the United Kingdom 1,302 tons, Sweden 508 tons.
The National Research Centre in Pune believes that this year's production will be normal, despite the low rainfall. In some areas, the drought has increased the costs of production, forcing farmers to purchase water tanks to water their vineyards. The harvest will continue until April-May.
