Another French wholesale market disappearing?
The year 2009 has been another tough year for what used to be one of Eastern France's major wholesale markets.Troyes, with its hundreds of outlet stores, is the place to be sell clothes. Unfortunately, this seems to be only true for clothes as, for the past several years, fruit and vegetable wholesalers seem to shy away from the city's wholesale market.
As of January of this year, Troyes' wholesale market was still home to 5 fruit and vegetable wholesalers, in addition to several meat wholesalers. But with the closing of the Marchaland André company this past July, and the coming retirement of Rivoallon's general manager, which will also lead to the closing down of the company, Troyes will be left with no more than 3 fruit and vegetable wholesalers: Les Primeurs de la Champagne, the S.A.R.L. Caroff, and the Abrinas Raymond establishment.
