Germany continues to be the largest market for exports of Italian fruit and vegetables.
In 2004, Germany represented 40 percent of Italy's fruit exports and 50 percent of its vegetable exports.
Around 40 percent of Germany's apple imports are from Italy, with volumes of almost 270,000 tonnes.
In 2004, exports of Italian fruit and vegetables to Germany stood at just over 3 million tonnes, of which 76 percent was fresh fruit.
