According to the head of the Apricot Research Institute, flowering started 11 days later than last season, but no frost problem has occurred until now.
The region of Malatya is the largest in Turkey for the production of apricots, fresh and dried. With temperatures rising in the following days, 100% of the trees should bloom.
However producers should be vigilant, because heavy rains also favor the appearance of moniliosis. They will therefore have to do the necessary treatments and also prevent any waves of cold.
The harvest forecast is higher than that of the previous season, both in quality and quantity, and the delay of 11 days is an advantage for producers.
