At Macfrut the first European Fruit Summit
Italy
Tuesday 25 August 2009
On October 6, the day before the official opening of the exhibition, Macfrut will host the First European Fruit Summit, during which leading experts from the sector will discuss the problems, expectations and future of the fruit market in Europe.
Cesena, 21st July 2009 - Focus on the European fruit sector at the 2009 edition of Macfrut, an exhibition that will be held in Cesena October 7-9, 2009.
The most important conference during the event, which for the 26th year in a row is the main point of reference for the fresh produce industry in the Mediterranean, will be the First European Fruit Summit, organised by Macfrut together with CSO (Fruit and Vegetable Services Centre) and the Italian Region Emilia Romagna.
The First European Fruit Summit will take place on October 6, before the opening of the exhibition, in the conference halls of the Cesena Trade Fair Centre.
During these ‘Fruit High-Command’ meetings, leading experts from the sector, from the main producing countries of Europe, will analyse market conditions, provide figures and make forecasts about the future of the fruit industry in Europe, considering the problems and the growth opportunities in a globalised world. Prominent speakers from Italy, Spain, France, Belgium and New Zealand will take part in the Summit, which will be divided into two parts. In the morning, Panel 1 will deal with summer fruit, with a description of the Italian season provided by CSO - Fruit and Vegetable Services Centre – and an analysis of the results of the season from all over Europe for strawberries and peaches/nectarines. Panel 2, in the afternoon, will focus on winter fruit.
After forecasts concerning the production of pears, kiwis and apples in Italy, attention will be shifted to the situation in Europe, with a section completely devoted to citrus fruits.
The 2009 edition of Macfrut confirms its international vocation, which has made this exhibition one of the major reference points in Europe for the fresh produce sector and one of the most important events in the Mediterranean. That is why delegations from Greece, UK, Turkey, France, Germany, China, Spain, Ecuador, Egypt, Pakistan and Lebanon will officially attend the event.
Last year’s figures are a clear evidence: more than 21,500 professional visitors attended the 2008 edition of Macfrut, 25% of whom came from abroad, with a total of 74 foreign countries and 684 exhibitors represented.
