Excellent start for hazelnut season

75 % of the world hazelnut production is ensured by Turkey, while it exports 70 percent of its production.

The 2014/2015 export season started the 1 of September and the average price received for 100 kg of shelled hazelnuts natural is 1042 USD. According to the Union of Exporters of Hazel Black Sea , about 22,500 tons of hazelnuts were exported between the 1st and the 30th of September for a value exceeding $ 225 million. In September 2013, more than 32,000 tons of hazelnuts were exported for a value of $ 221 million USD. Harvest being less important this year, prices have soared.

These are the European markets which have imported the most nuts (about 18,000 tonnes).
