Morocco´s agricultural production, both vegetables and livestock, currently accounts for 15% of the Gross Domestic Product of the Country, tripling its value in the last 50 years.
Higher Commissioner for Planning (HCP) Ahmed Lahlimi confirmed that, "despite the strong urban concentration characterizing our Country, agriculture has an important multiplication effect on the growth of the rest of the Moroccan production".
He also added that "the social dimension of agriculture remains central given the fact that the sector provides employment to 46% of the active population and its evolution remains crucial for the balance in the rural societies", Map news agency reported.
