The tomato is dethroned

New classification of the best export sales.

The tomato has just lost the first place of exportations from the province of Almeria for the first time over many years. The export sales for the first two months of 2013 has the following classification: on the first is place the pepper (€ 156.8 million or 24.1% of total exports), on the second place is tomato (€ 156.5 million), on the third place is cucumber with 14.8% , on the fourth place zucchini with 6.7% and eggplant on the fifth place with 4.6%.

During the first two months of the year the volume of exportation reached € 498.2 million , an increase of 3.04% compared to last year according to the Ministry of Agriculture. Germany is the first customer with 31.4% of purchases, followed by the Netherlands with 13.8%, France 12.9% and United Kingdom 11.2%.
