Fruit & Vegetables report from Brazil
Brazil
Thursday 02 October 2008
Fruit and vegetable production is constantly on the rise, as are exports, which - year after year - show double-digit percentage increases (exports of fresh fruit only, grew between 2006 and 2007 by 14%).
The goal for the end of 2008 is to reach a million metric tons of exported fruit and vegetable products. Brazil is proving to be on an international level one of the Countries with the greatest opportunities for production and trade development, in the produce sector and beyond.
Our reporter informed us by visiting a series of fazendas, in the State of Sao Paulo, in the southeast of the Country, and in the north east, in the area that comprises Cearà, Pernambuco (with the city of Petrolina) and further south Bahia, all on the Atlantic Ocean.
