Fruit and vegetable exports fall in volume but grow in value

The behavior of Mexico's foreign trade of fruits and vegetables during the first two months of 2022 and 2021, calculated by the Agricultural Markets Consulting Group.
Although Mexican fruit and vegetable exports in the first two months of 2022 fell 10.9%, their commercial value increased 9%, according to data from the Agricultural Markets Consulting Group.
 
 
Fruit
 
Fruit sales decreased 13.1%, going from 662.400 to 575.700 tons; but its commercial value grew 19.3%, reaching $1.778 million.
 
Avocado was the fruit that represented the lowest export volume, followed by lemon, mango, banana, walnut and papaya.
 
 
Vegetables
 
Vegetable exports in January-February 2022 totaled 1.174.900 tons, showing a decrease of 9.8% compared to the similar period last year. The value of these supplies increased to $2.693.500 from $2.470.100 in the same period in 2021.
 
The lowest shipments were observed in asparagus, lettuce, broccoli, onion, tomato, chili, and pumpkin.
