Nigeria has concluded a pea supply agreement with India that is expected to earn about USD 100 billion in the coming years.
Nigeria will be able to profit from its agricultural products with the beginning of exports of vegetables to the United Kingdom and to India.
NAQS (National Agricultural Quarantine Service), the body responsible for certifying agricultural products for exports, announced that shipments of vegetables to the UK have begun.
Previously, exports were made in a disorganized manner. Now NAQS collects the institutes of interested producers to export their products and then investigates the production processes of storage and transport. In order to guarantee the level of quality required for foreign markets.
NAQS also said that the country, following a request from the Indian government, is expected to earn about 100 billion USD with the export of pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan). This vegetable is at the heart of India food.
