Wholesale or retail?
The wholesale market of Genoa, just like all wholesale markets in Italy, has to open its door to people half a day per week (according to law), for a direct sale to consumers.
In Genoa, the market opens its doors one hour a day for that.
More and more people are interested, but not only private people, also professionals of catering. This situation creates tensions with retailers who lose a part of their turnover.
On the other hand, this practice boosts the fruit and vegetable consumption.
