Armenia expects to harvest 20,000 tons of apricots, which only represents 30% of the normal crop.
Armenia expects a small crop of apricots in decline compared to previous seasons.
The estimates show an harvest of 20,000 tons of apricots, that is barely 30% of the 70-75 000 tons produced in a normal year or 120,000 tons produced during a very good year.
The agrarian-peasant Union of Armenia announced that half of the expected harvest will be consumed in the country, one quarter will be reprocessed and the other quarter will go for export. Bad weather and persistent drought are the causes of this dramatic decline in production.
