The value of exports of peppers increased by 41%

The region of Murcia recorded a significant increase of the value of its exports of peppers.
In 2013, the export value of peppers of Murcia region reached 100 million €, an increase of 41% compared to the previous year. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Murcia region sold abroad a total of 84,906 tons of peppers, which represents 79% of total production of the region and +29% compared to the volume exported 10 years ago.
The region of Murcia is only the second producing region of peppers with 11% of the national total, far behind Andalusia which represents 66%. Peppers of Murcia are mainly exported to the countries of the European Union, Germany and France receive 67% of total exports.
