In October 2013, it is the most exported fruit after grapes with an increase of 37 percent compared to last season.
More than half of the harvest is carried in the Mediterranean region. However, many varieties are also produced in the Aegean region and the planted areas have increased over the past four years and should result in greater quantities of pomegranates. Already this year, an increase of 6.4 percent is expected compared to the previous year.
