Citrus fruit growers in the US state of Texas are worried that they could suffer if the EU raises tariffs in December.
The EU is threatening to increase tariffs on US imports in response to US tariffs on imported steel.
"The higher tariffs would have a big impact on the citrus industry in Texas," said Ray Prewett, president of Texas Citrus Mutual, an industry trade organization.
Half of the grapefruit juice that Texas growers produce is exported to Europe, and tariffs could rise from 12 percent to 27%.
Other produce which could be affected by the tariffs are fresh apples and pears.
