In Tunisia, the consumption of food products is generally higher during the month of Ramadam. The authorities have reviewed the state of production and stocks to assess their ability to meet demand.
According to local media, the Tunisian market will not experience a shortage of fruits and vegetables. Vegetables will be available in sufficient quantities. But if an incident occurs, the Ministry of Commerce then plans to import potatoes, onions and tomatoes to balance supply with demand.
However, according to the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries, shortages of red meat and milk are to be expected during the month of Ramadam.
The month of Ramadam 2023/1444 (current year in the Islamic calendar) will begin in week 12, Wednesday March 22 and will last until Thursday April 20. During the month of Ramadan, observant Muslims observe the fast between dawn and sunset and breaking the fast is an occasion for festive evenings with family and friends.
