Soon "tailored" broccoli for the Murcia region

A plan to improve varieties of broccoli is set up for a better adaption of the vegetable to the climatic conditions of the Murcia region.
A meeting was held to bring together the Agri-Food Innovation Directorate, organizations (Fecoam, Fecamur, Proexport) producers and exporters of broccoli to discuss. A team of scientists has begun a program of study and improvement of existing varieties to better adapt them to the region.
These agricultural organizations expressed their willingness to actively participate in the variety improvement plan. Murcia is one of the main Spanish production areas and export cabbage and broccoli, with 296,988 tonnes sold in 2014.
