HaciendasBio has exported 22.000 tons of ecologic fruit and vegetables to the German market in 2019
HaciendasBio, one of the first producer of organic fruit and vegetables in Spain and leader export country to Europe, has allocated 50% of its production to Germany in 2019 - 22,000 tons, being the most strategic country for the company. The German market mainly demands fruits, vegetables, especially peppers, stone fruits, especially nectarines and plums and, finally, watermelons and grapes. Also, the Spanish company has developed round zucchini, mini cucumber and Kohlrabi cultivations during the last year, especially to the German market.
HaciendasBio sells its fruits and vegetables in Germany through the Organization of Fruit and Vegetable Producers to which it belongs. It does so through commercial agreements with more than 21 distributors operating in the territory, reaching the main German distribution channels. Their products are in some cases under distributor brands and in others under different brands such as HaciendasBio or Harmonía.
Paco Casallo, the Chief executive officer underlined that “Germany is a strategic territory for HaciendasBio, as it is Europe's main ecological consumer. Looking ahead to 2020, we plan to expand our presence in the German country through the signing of new trade agreements.”
HaciendasBio is investing heavily in order to make its organic fruits and vegetables the first to be available in the market when other countries do not have their own production.
Thanks to the research of new varieties and the strategic location of its farms, it manages to extend the usual seasons of fruit and vegetables harvest in a natural way and in harmony with the environment. In this way, the company expands the offer so that the consumer benefits from the properties and taste of their products for a longer period of the year.
The Spanish producer is the only one in Europe that has its own stone fruit production for 20 consecutives by ensuring the integrity and transparency that consumers require.
HaciendasBio is not limited to complying with the guidelines that govern ecological certifications. It goes a step further by applying biodynamic agriculture, thus understanding each farm as a holistic, living and self-sufficient organism, formed by animals and plants that inhabit it. In this way it returns to the earth everything it consumes from it, enhancing fertility and biodiversity.
In fact, the French biologist specialized in soil life George Oxley has endorsed the explosion of biodiversity on HaciendasBio farms, being the first time in 20 years that he finds in agricultural land species that are usually only found in highly protected wild areas and that are collected in the 'Red List'.
Finally, the company is one of the top three companies worldwide with the best environmental performance according to a study prepared by the Dutch consultancy Soil & More, a sustainability specialist.
