Sales of organic food up by 10 percent

According to The Soil Association, sales of organic food in the UK have increased by 10 percent over the last year.
The UK organic food market now has a retail value of £1.12 billion.
Sales of organic produce through supermarket chains has fallen by 1 percent, while sales through farm shops have increased by 16 percent and now account for 10 percent of the total market.
A major growth area continues to be baby foods, with now almost half all baby foods sold in the UK being organic.
