The value of banana exports fell by 6%

Banana exports from Central America registered a 6% decline in value this year compared to last year.
According to data processed by CentralAmericaData's Área de Inteligencia Comercial, during the first quarter of 2019, banana exports from Central American countries reached US $590 million, 6% less compaed to same period in 2018.
From January to March 2019, the largest exporter of bananas was Guatemala (225.2 million USD), followed by Costa Rica (208.5 million USD), Honduras (119.2 million USD), Panama (30.2 USD), Nicaragua (USD 7.2 million) and El Salvador (USD 100,000).
With regard to destination markets, the US is the largest buyer with 64% of total exports. The Netherlands follow with 9%, Belgium with 5% and the United Kingdom with 5%;
