Cherry crop cut
Australia
Tuesday 27 November 2007
Hefty water restrictions have cut the Riverland cherry harvest in South Australia by 40 per cent on last year.
Joe Gropler, a grower from Barmera, says if there's no significant rain next year, he won't have a crop.
"Without significant rain we're in more strife than the early settlers next year," he says.
"I have employed 30 people for eight weeks out here and I can't say that I can employ anybody next year, because without water I won't be picking."
