California almond crop expected to be US$2.5 billion

With a grower price of about $3 per pound (approx. 500gr), the 2005 California almond crop is expected to be worth around $2.5 billion. This makes almonds the fourth highest value crop in California. In 1999 producers received less than $1 per pound for basically the same size crop as expected in 2005.
