The surfaces of blueberries continue to increase

In a few years, the increase in the area of blueberries is prodigious.
In 2012 the surfaces of blueberries amounted to 585 hectares. Which represents an increase of 110% compared to the surfaces of 5 years ago (280 hectares in 2007) and 257% compared to the surfaces of 20 years ago (164 hectares in 1992). This progression of surfaces follow the national and international demand which is in constant increase.
Last year, exports amounted to 1.3 million kg of Dutch blueberries and 3.4 million kg of blueberries in total, including the re-export. The main destinations are Germany (1.4 million kg) and the UK (1.1 million kg).
