Potato storage will increase by 17.4% due to higher cultivated area and yields.
For the 2011-2012 campaign, the production of potatoes for conservation in France will rise.
According to figures provided by the UNPT (National Union of Producers of potatoes) and CNIPT (National Interprofessional Committee for Potatoes), production will rise to 5.33 million tons, compared to 4.54 million tons in 2010, an increase of
17.4%.
Along with the increase in surface (4%) is the significant rise in average yield (12.9%) which led to increased production of 790,000 tons. However, the proportion of waste and over-sized potatoes could lead to a smaller increase in marketable yield.
