Stable exports for citrus

Citrus exports will be less stable (-1%) in 2014.

South African citrus exports are expected roughly stable.

According to the latest bulletin of producers, the export volume in 2014 will reach 113.5 million boxes of 15 kg. 1% less than in 2013 (113.7 million boxes). This estimate includes volumes from South Africa, Zimbabwe and Swaziland.

Overall, therefore exports are stable but there are some nuances: lemons with 12.1 million boxes will show an increase of +14% (10.6 million in 2013), grapefruit with 16.8 million boxes a decrease of -6% (17.8 million in 2013). The Navel orange will increase by +2% (25.8 million boxes planned for 2014) and Valencia orange down by -4% (49.5 million boxes in 2014).
