Very satisfactory figures for fruit production of the PhilippineS.
The Philippines improved their volume of fruit production, more particularly the region of Davao.
Davao region reached the highest production area and volume in banana in 2009 of 86,302 hectares and 3,749,766 tons respectively. In 2009, volume of production grew by 3.74% over 2008 volume.
Pineapple production area has 58,823 hectares that produced a volume of 2,198,497 tons. Northern Mindanao reached the highest production area and volume in 2009 of 20,847 hectares and 1,026,905 tons respectively.
The production of pomelo (in2009) increased by 6.05% over the 2008 volume. Davao region has the highest production volume in 2009 which totalled to 15,979 million tons or about 46% of the total national production volume.
These figures were communicated during The Mindanao Fruit Industry conference, a yearly event organized by the Minfruit Council which gathers all important stakeholders of the local fruit industry.
