Mr. Eduardo Ledesma, head of Ecuadorean Banana Exporters Association, recently confirmed in an interview that the production, sales and exports of Ecuadorian bananas have got very satisfactory results. In 2007 exports totalled about 260 million dollars, that is 10 millions more compared to 2006.
According to the Association, 2007 was a very positive year, giving also the possibility to improve the average of prices on the international market. This growing trend is expected to be maintained in 2008, achieving a better presence on foreign markets also through a greater investment into the industry, most of all towards improving the product quality and setting up adequate marketing policies.
