Turkey : official partner country of Fruit Logistica 2012

Turkey is a major trading partner of Germany and the European Union. The country has been chosen as the official partner country of the 2012 edition of Fruit Logistica.

Turkey announced the largest participation ever seen at Messe Berlin, which will reflect the growing importance of the country as a producer, exporter and trading partner for many countries.

 Last year, Turkey has produced 43 million tons a year of fruit and vegetables, exported 6.7% of its total production:

- Citrus fruit (1.2 million tons)
- vegetables (1 million tonnes)
- fresh fruit (637,000 t).

Its trading partners are Russia (36%) Germany (9%), Bulgaria, Ukraine, Iraq and Romania.

The total value of exports reached $ 2.1 billion; Turkey intends to increase this figure to 10 billion USD by 2023.
