Production of table grapes could exceed 700 000 tonnes

A production of table grapes of 712 000 tonnes and an expected export volume of 384 000 tonnes.
According to estimates by the Peruvian Ministry of Agriculture, the production of table grapes in the country could increase by 11.4% and exports total 384,000 tons.
Minagri estimates (Ministerio de Agricultura y Riego) forecast a production of table grapes of 712 000 tonnes, or + 11.4% compared to 2018. Of this total volume about 54% or 384 000 tonnes will be for export .
For the first quarter of 2019, the Ministry stated that the country exported 184,463 tonnes of table grapes, ie +47% compared to the same period of 2018. In value these exports amounted to $397.1 million, that is + 33% compared to the same period of the previous year.
The main destination markets were the United States (37.8% of the total), Hong Kong (15.6%) and the Netherlands (12.2%).
For 2018 exports of fresh grapes reached $818 million, an increase of 26% compared to 2017, making Peru the 3rd largest exporter of fresh grapes in the world, behind Chile and the United States.
