Russia
Sunday 06 July 2008

The trade of summer fruit  was more active in regions than in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg due to the fact that Uzbekistan completely dominated inside of the country while many origins competed with each other in the largest cities. Sweet cherry had a good demand all over the country. Greece dominated the market of Saint-Petersburg on 4,245 US$/kg level whereas all the origins were presented in Moscow. Prices differed from 2,97 US$.kg to 6,36 US$/kg. Nectarines were eventually more in demand than peaches due to short supply. Prices for peaches differed from 1,95 US$/kg for loose Serbian stuff to 2,80 US$/kg for layered Spanish one. The demand for peaches and nectarines was higher than the offer. Strawberries went down from 5,09 US$/kg in the beginning of the week 26 to 4,46 US$/kg in the end of it without great demand. Apricots from Uzbekistan were available in such large volumes that it was difficult to find out the real price level.
