A persimmons production expected to be similar to last year

The estimate of harvest is lower than originally expected , but is expected to exceed 200 000 tonnes for the second consecutive year.

Despite the weather conditions in the Valencia region that were unfavorable ( heat waves, hail) , AVA- ASAJA (Asociación Valenciana de Agricultores ) reduced its estimate by 10% and plans to produce 200,000 tons.

The surfaces in the region of Valencia , according to the Ministry of Agriculture , recorded an increase of 20 % on average each year. Now the region has 11,862 hectares dedicated to persimmons or 88% of total national area , in 2013 the region had 9580 hectares and only 7995 in 2012 .
