First citrus exports to China

Morocco has just begun export of citrus to China, leading consumer of this type of fruit.
This first shipment sent by Morocco Fruit Board (MBF) from Agadir, has carried 20 tons of clementines and should arrive on December 20th.
The objective of Moroccan exporters is to export, within 5 years, between 40,000 and 50,000 tons per year to China.
This first shipment crown 2 years working professionals (MFB, Aspam Citrus and Morocco) to make access to the Chinese market. Negotiations, phytosanitary agreement between the 2 countries, visiting Chinese experts in the field. After verification of the orchards, packing stations and ports, these experts have chosen producers and exporters who are eligible.
